Tararua Ranges

Not far north of New Zealand's capital city, Wellington, is the Tararua Ranges. These rugged razor-back mountains occasionally get dustings of snow, and this is stunning and demanding tramping country.

There are 17 crashed aircraft in the Tararua ranges, including this one from 1951. So rugged is the area, the aircrafts remain, and the bodies from this crash are buried nearby.
